Stay vigilant!

Lately there has been a large wave of online fraud cases. Fake web links are sent, and people or businesses are impersonated in an attempt to steal data, logins or even money. How can you tell that a website is actually a scam?

An incorrectly written URL address. Fraudsters may slightly alter the URL.

There is no locked padlock symbol. If you see a red triangle with an exclamation mark and the words "Not secure" in the upper-left part of the address bar, that is a sign that you are browsing an unsafe website. A properly secured web page is marked with a locked padlock symbol.

Missing information about the website owner. On a safe website you can always find detailed information about its owner. If you cannot find the website owner's contacts (company address, working hours, phone number or email), this may be a sign that you are browsing a website with security gaps.

You cannot find information about the website's privacy policy. Most websites have a privacy policy section or a link to a document containing detailed information about the processing of personal data. If you cannot find such information, that is a warning that you may be visiting an unsafe website.

There are no website security marks or authorship references. Usually, various security marks are displayed at the bottom of safe web pages, or it is indicated who holds the website's copyright.
